I found this beautiful porcelain vase the other day in the corner of an asian restaurant. I snapped a photo because although it's common to see porcelain vases in your typical asian setting, this one seemed very intricate with a sense of tranquility floating amidst the cranes. It's amazing how much eastern pottery evolved from the early clay pots molded only for utility into the elegant and intricately detailed ceramics we have today. These cranes embody such dignity that they have inspired me to learn more about their symbolism.
